During talk around the table at Thanksgiving, we began talking about helping others for Christmas.  Our 2 families decided we would adopt a family. I know it has been done through our church previously. In fact our boys were chosen by a couple during COVID when Kim and I were still not working. We paid it back with a young family 2 seasons later. It’s hard for families to ask for help out of embarrassment, shame, pride. When you sit down with the parents and explain why it’s being done, it’s not out of pity, it’s to find out their children’s wants and likes. It’s to make sure their children are able to wake up Christmas morning with gifts from Santa under the tree. It’s also done to strengthen their belief that there are people who are walking in the footsteps of Jesus and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
