25th Anniverary

Pax climbed 2,071 steps up the bleachers, representing the 2,071 steps in each of the World Trade Center buildings from ground floor to the 110th floor. Thanks to @Hardware, we carried with us the names of first responders who were unable to make the climb and gave their lives trying to save the innocent victims on that day. The best of us (not me) wore vests and carried sandbags – incredible work!

25 years ago, heroes (not using that word lightly) charged into buildings to save anyone they could. Heroes took down a commercial jet to save hundreds or thousands. All did this without regard to their own lives. It makes me reflect on this question: what am I truly willing to die for? My faith? My family? What about a random stranger being attacked? To be honest, I sometimes think that I might seek safety, justifying it because I have a family to protect or people who rely on me. I pray that all of us have the strength and courage to be willing to be a hero should that moment ever come.
