Damians 3rd birthday

Thu., Jan. 13, 2022 / 05:30 am - 06:15 am / Copley High School

JonBoy

Warm-up:

Various stretches and then played Imagine Dragons “Zero” (Damian’s favorite song) while doing the following workouts:
  • Mountain climbers (1 minute)
  • Side startle hops (1 minute)
  • Freddie Mercurys (remainder of the song)

Workout:

Workout – in cadence:
These are all exercises I try to do with the kids, and Damian is usually the first one to just jump on me while I’m doing them. He weighs about the same as a heavy coupon, so that’s the connection. I figured 30 would be a good multiple of 3 for sets.We completed 2 full rounds of the following:
  • 30 coupon squats
  • 30 merkins
  • 30 big boys
  • 30 coupon shoulder presses
  • After each set of 30, sprint to the 50 yard line and gradually cool down to the 100 yard line. Then backwards jog back to the starting goal line.

COT:

COT – Rest! How often do we take the time to rest and rest well? It’s important that we do. God even commands it if us in the third commandment “Remember to keep holy the Lords day” (aka, the day of rest).
I know for me, rest often becomes somewhat of a distraction, like mindlessly scrolling through YouTube videos… is this really rest? I would say no.
Last Sunday, we went to Mass, then to brunch at my parents house, and then came home and had a restful day. We put some nice instrumental music on while the kids were playing and my wife and I were sitting on the couch reading. After a while, Damian asked me to lay down with him and we took a little nap. What a blessing! That evening, I couldn’t help but think that we should strive to rest like that every Sunday.
Maybe that seems impossible to some, but if we make an effort, I believe that God will help with the rest.
Prayers for the men reading through the Wild at Heart book and field guide and for Damian on his birthday.
