In his message this weekend, Pastor Jeff taught on a very familiar passage in James 1.”Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”He spoke about how we handle ‘trials’, depends on our ou perspective – which typically is “Pain is the worst thing in our life, so we need to escape it ASAP”.But Jeff pointed out a key phrase in James 1:4 that I never really keyed into before that helps start to change my perspective. The phrase is ‘finish its work’. If I allow the pain to soak on and the trial to finish, only then can I be mature and complete.Starting yesterday, I’ve been trying this new perspective with my situation with my son Josh. It isn’t easy but praying that we can stay in and allow God’s to finish his work…
