Try Not to take Things for Granted
This past Saturday morning, I woke up with the loss of vision in my left eye.  I went to the hospital, where I spent two days being tested for a stroke, blood flow and high blood pressure.  All the tests came back negative.
When I was released, I was referred to an ophthalmologist for tests focused on my eye.
Monday, the ophthalmologist referred me to a retina specialist.  After multiple tests, they determined that I had a retinal artery occlusion and retinal vein occlusion.  This is what caused the loss of vision and they told me it was permanent.  This was not the news I was obviously hoping for and I was in shock.
I went for a second opinion on Tuesday and the results were confirmed. As difficult as this week has been, I have changed my mindset from “Why me?” to “What now?”   I have been fortunate, and continue to be grateful, for everything I’ve been given and to still have the ability to be out here working out with this awesome group of men. Please do not take anything for granted, as it can literally be taken from you at any time.
