Mon., Jan. 6, 2025 / 06:00 am - 06:45 am / Medina High School

Focker

Warm-up:

Dynamic: jog to the blocks, MTN climbers in a circle while PAX each took turns running to a side line and back. After every PAX had a turn to run, we stopped the mountain climbers.
Stretchy things: Turn and Bounce, Tappy Taps, and static stretches. The Thang: Focker’s 8×8, or Nintendo 64!

Workout:

PAX performed the following OYO without stop – goal was to get at least 8 sets of 8 for 64 reps of each.-8 Incline merkins
-8 flat back rows
-8 Curls For Girls!
-8 Cross Arm High Pulls
-8 Squats
-8 Overhead Presses
-8 Tricep Extensions
-8 Derkins.

After each set, we ran a short side line mosey and back and began again.*

PAX modified as necessary – good to see us still out here in the gloom, knowing personal limitations and adapting as we go. Good on you guys for making it out! Based on my personal experience, I think it’s twice as hard to motivate yourself to get up and get after it when you know you aren’t at 100% That’s why we mod!

6MOM:

Decided to forgo McGill exercises and complete CoP instead. Following an 8 count for reps, PAX joined a circle of pain on their six. Each PAX chose an exercise to lead and our abs were burning.

COT:

The importance of building character – Inspired by my love of Calvin and Hobbes comics. Often the panels featuring Calvin’s Dad are of him telling Calvin various things in life “builds character” – basically his dad’s excuse for everything that doesn’t have an explanation of why we do what we do. I noted that I’m always impressed with how great my family is at pitching in at parties for either set up or clean up. Every sibling jumps in and gets to work to help out. We do it because we care about each other and we know more hands means less work. We didn’t just start doing this one day, it was built into us from when we were kids by our mom and dad. Little things like small chores and words of praise and thanks for a job well done… these experiences when we were younger have carried over into our adult lives, and instilled in us the work ethic that we have…it built character. I hope to build my children up and to support them in the year ahead. My goal is to help them build character, whether they like it or not, haha! Good on you guys today for getting out on this very cold morning and getting it after it! Way to go!
