COT:
With tomorrow being St Patrick’s Day, wanted to provide a little background on the man
Background: Born around 387–390 A.D. in Britain to a Christian family (his father was a deacon and grandfather a priest), he was captured by Irish raiders at age 16 and spent six years in slavery, where he grew in faith.
Missionary Work: Following a dream, he escaped slavery, returned to his family, and later felt called to return to Ireland as a missionary. He converted thousands, established300 churches, and consecrated 350 bishops.
Biblical Focus: Patrick’s writings, such as his Confession, indicate he was deeply influenced by the Bible, often quoting the Gospels, Psalms, and Pauline epistles.
Legacy: Known as the “Apostle of Ireland,” he is a patron saint of Ireland, though he was never officially canonized by the Catholic Church, as he lived before formal canonization processes existed.
St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) commemorates the date of his death, not a biblical event
