my birthday COT is the same every year. I grew up with a buddy by the name of Jay Jackson. We played everything together, baseball, basketball, and football. He even taught me how to drive a stick. His father was my varsity baseball coach, and his mother taught me in middle school English. 16 years after graduation, we were shocked to learn that his father had committed suicide. Six years later, I woke up to a text from my best friend from high school, telling me that Jay had killed himself, while using the same gun, his father had used. I had seen Jay a couple of years before, and he was undergoing electro shock therapy. I sometimes wish I had done more, but I didn’t realize how much he was struggling. I just want everyone to know that if you’re feeling something, please say something. Say something to a family member, say something to your F3 buddies, or say something to your outside friend group. But don’t go on suffering. There is a lot of support here in this world for each and every one of us, make sure to take advantage of that.
