ButterfliesWhen we are young, our lives are filled with firsts… and with those firsts, come butterflies… those pits of nervousness that can sometimes feel like the world is super heavy. As we get older, firsts are replaced with comfort and routine… and the butterflies often don’t find their way to being home in your stomach. This can easily be looked at as a good thing… comfortable. But, when they return, man, is it an opportunity to be grateful… as they are proof of a moment that you are blessed to experience as completely new…. With all the range of emotions that make life amazing. I am so thankful of those moments… and thankful to be at an emotional age to experience them for the fullness that they offer. They also pay a reminder to find gratitude for those moments that have become routine to look at them as “new”… be it waking up next to the woman you vowed to share your life with XX years ago… or saying “have a great day” to your middle schooler on her last day of school before summer as you’ve done for years… each of these moments used to have butterflies along for the ride. Perhaps, welcome them back and appreciate the fullness of that now “everyday” moment…
Congratulations to all the young men and women who graduated this week. I know I’m not alone in being proud of them.
