COT:

I really love the new Superman movie from 2025. I think the director, James Gunn and the cast really brought Superman back to his roots, standing up for the humanity of the world. It’s an inspiration and one that I choose to embrace. The “New Punk Rock” as he puts it in the video clip, is to be genuine, nice and believe the best in people – to appreciate the humanity of everyone, whatever their place/status in life. Superman stands up for the little guy, he stands up to bullies, while also not going to extremes or using unnecessary force; He doesn’t allow people to experience extraneous harm – he glorifies people; sees each and every person as beautiful and worthy of his best efforts. I find this very Christ-like, and I’ve often paralleled Superman comics and good deeds with how Jesus wants us to act in the Bible. I’ve been a big fan of Superman since I was a kid, and I think it’s that genuine faith in the goodness of people that my fandom stems from. It was really freaking cold this morning and I was out of breath and kind of rambling during my CoT; I shared more stuff about how I applied this idea over the weekend during the staffing issues we were experiencing at the hospital…but the main point I was trying to make with this is that Jesus wants us to care for our fellow man; believe the best in people, and be the best man in the room. Let’s all act more like Superman.
