I noticed each man I talked to this morning shared a story of their own growth and personal fueling pouring out as love/friendship/compassion/support for another. Wall-E shared about his training with @Rad… both driving themselves to be physically better and cultivating friendship and support naturally along the way. Focker shared a story about his wife’s training… and, reflected on his own journey I’m personally extremely inspired by of his growth away from pride and comparison… towards gratitude for what he is blessed with and celebration of his wife’s journey and goals. McCracken shared about his upcoming 10 mile celebration of his one-year mark of recovery from his surgery… and how his life and drive has inspired his daughter to join him in it as well as create her own personal health goals. Music Man shared a story of how he celebrated his weekend intentionally spending as much time as he could with his children before knowing football season starts today and the sacrifices made from the realities of what it takes to both grow himself individually as a coach as well as dedicate himself to molding other young men into positive role models of the future. I had many moments of reflection myself this weekend as I realize all the work I’ve done over the past few years to have a stronger relationship with myself to allow love to naturally flow instead of it being an intentional verb that is usually attached to some sort of transaction (i.e., the whole you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours motto I am not a fan of at all)…
Looooooong story short: invest in loving yourself so you can naturally and fully love others. Give vs. “be nice”… Be loving vs. love… if you intentionally love yourself and recognize the beautiful gift you are exactly as you are, the love for others will be God’s work flowing through you naturally.
