I just wanted to get into Qing a bit for some of the newcomers. We finished up a great PAXtober, and had no issue filling all our dates with a unique PAX Qing.
We’ve had a nice run of sticky FNGs lately, and I’d love to see those guys continue to prosper within the group. Qing can be a great part of that growth.
Just a few things to remember when Qing: The difference between “in cadence” and “in unison”. Remember to keep your cadence consistent until the last rep. On the last rep change your voice inflection to indicate we will be halting.
Keep an eye out for any PAX struggling at any given time. Mix in a ten count to give them a little recovery time.
Pick up the six.
I get asked a lot about timing. I generally tend to go until 6:36-6:38, which gives us a good 4-6 minutes for Mary, and enough time to get the COT in, and have guys back to their cars by 6:48. (@Focker‘s got to get his kids to school!). Doing a beatdown with “rounds” helps control timing, particularly if you are new to Qing. This morning’s workout, for example, had 10 rounds. If we were running close on time, I simply would have cut the lawn mowers from the agenda. Conversely, if we had plenty of time, I could have added a round of burpees, and everyone could have hated me over the weekend. Remember, it’s your Q, and you control the environment, but we’re all here to help, if you should encounter an issue. My first Q was, in the name of full disclosure, pretty crappy, but I could Q a workout in my sleep at this point. It’s all just repetition.
That brings me to the COT. We all have our own opinions, and we all come across interesting material on a daily basis. Some of it will knock the PAX socks off, and others will slide on by. That’s okay, it’s your Q, and this time is reserved for your thoughts. Bring share it, and my guess is that you’ll touch someone in the group with your experiences or insights.
My apologies again to @Dash for going overboard in the ball busting department on Wednesday. He was thought provoking, as always!
