When we are little and we have a toothache, we want the pain to go away but we’re hesitant to tell our mom because we know she will take us to the dentist to fix the problem, not just treat the painful symptom. Our God is the same way. He doesn’t just want to help us treat our surface problems. He wants to get to our hearts and fix the root of the problem so we don’t continue to have the same problems. Let’s not be reluctant to allow God to do his work on our hearts in this way.
