Franz Jäggerstatter was a Catholic Austrian objector to the imprisonment of the disabled, the Jews, etc during WWII. Despite being urged by his friends and religious leaders to cooperate to protect his life and career as a farmer, he resisted and was eventually imprisoned. He was later murdered by the Nazis for refusing to cooperate. He is now celebrated as a hero of the resistance in Austria and Catholicism. This inspires me to think of one of my favorite scripture passages John 12:27-28. We were made for the time and place God put us whether it is comfortable or not.
