Prodigal Son Parable: Luke 15:11-32. Referenced a sermon I heard this weekend relating “Home Alone 2” to the Prodigal Son parable. A few tidbits I gleamed from the story that might related to us. The end of the parable brings the son back to his father after he squandered all that was given to him. The son was willing to accept a place as a servant for his father, but his father welcomed him back with no reservations. Luke 15 23-24” Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” Rather than the Father being upset at what the son had done, he welcomed him back with open arms.
The challenge for us is to possibly re-visit those relationships with family or friends this Christmas season that maybe we have written off as impossible to fix. Look at them through the lense of this story and regain something that was lost and now is found.
